Fountain Medley

Marcia Cook decided it was time to have a series of floating fountains, with lights, in the small lake in front of her house. Since she's been a musician most of her life, and works as an IT Director, her plan included synchronizing the fountains and lights to music, and controlling it all by computer. Hear about what inspired her to overcome the trials and tribulations with the project. Clogging pump filters, an early cold snap, underwater light controllers just to name a few. We'll chat about the hardware and software used to make her fountain medley a beautiful display day or night.

Perry, songwriter and singer, will be this week's spotlight artist on Sunday Morning Sidewalks and will also be the featured guest during our interview. We will chat about Sickle Cell Anemia, his mission to help find a cure for sickle cell and to raise awareness in the United States and Canada for those that suffer with this disease by being involved in fundraisers for hospitals, support groups, sickle cell centers and blood banks.

Michael A. Burstein, SP3 President, is a science textbook editor, science fiction writer, and former teacher of physics and astronomy. In his career as a writer, he is the winner of the 1997 Campbell Award for Best New Writer and has earned ten Hugo nominations and two Nebula nominations for his short fiction, which appears mostly in Analog magazine. Michael is an officer of the Society for the Preservation of Pluto as a Planet (SP3). The SP3 is dedicated to the proposition that Pluto has been and always should be considered the ninth planet of our solar system.
